RN, Emergency Department

Location: Richmond, Kentucky Employment Type: Clinical, Nursing Contract Length: 13 weeks Schedule: Full time, 36 hours/week, 12-hour shifts, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., weekend requirements

Job Summary

The RN implements professional nursing practice centered on the whole person and a caring environment focused on healing and wellness. Practice is based on evidence, current research, hospital and department policies, regulatory standards, and professional guidelines. The role coordinates and provides direct patient care on the unit, including nursing rounds, assessments, and treatments; admission, transfer, and discharge activities; patient and family education; and care coordination and individualized treatment planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform and document comprehensive assessments, considering the patient's culture, age, and developmental level
• Identify patient risk factors, prioritize needs, and develop a problem list with the interprofessional team
• Implement patient care therapies and procedures, and recognize and communicate changes in patient condition
• Explain procedures and treatments to patients and families, and address patients' educational needs
• Delegate tasks, oversee team members, and monitor the accuracy and completeness of delegated care
• Facilitate timely discharges, including discharge teaching and coordination with Case Management
• Provide input into patient and nurse assignments based on staffing, unit activity, and patient acuity
• Participate in unit quality improvement activities and core measures, such as patient satisfaction, falls, pressure ulcers, CAUTIs, and documentation audits

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Kentucky
• Emergency Department experience within the last year (1 year of experience)
• BLS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
