Location: Mammoth Lakes, California Employment Type: Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks Specialty: Nursing Shift: 12-hour varied shifts, 2 shifts per week, with rotating weekend call coverage Hours per Week: 24

Role Overview

• Operating Room Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA), a perioperative registered nurse who works in an expanded role while also providing registered nursing care, primarily for the Orthopedic service.
• May first-assist surgeons in other surgical specialties when assigned and when the RNFA has the required education, demonstrated competency, standardized-procedure authority, and hospital-approved privileges for the procedure and specialty.
• Duties include:

  • Assessing and monitoring patients, and planning and delivering care based on patient data.
  • Creating and maintaining a sterile field.
  • Anticipating equipment and supply needs before cases begin.
  • Anticipating problems, adapting to the procedure, and setting priorities in emergencies or changes in patient status.
  • Reassessing patients and revising the plan of care.

Required Qualifications

• Valid State of California Registered Nurse License
• First Assist experience of at least two years
• First Assist experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) credential
• Certified Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) credential
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Operating Room (OR) experience
