Unit Name: TCU
Number of Beds: 20
Patient Ratio: 4:1
Unit Staffing: Unit Secretary, Nurse Externs (can start IVs), Patient Care Techs (can draw labs), Registered Nurses, Manager, Director
Equipment: ZOLL, Baxter pumps, GE telemetry monitors, iMobile, Hillrom beds, Centrella Specialty beds, Kangaroo pumps
Scheduling: Every other weekend, holiday or hard-to-fill availability, 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays per schedule
Floating Scope: May float to other Step-Down units (4:1; PSTU, CSU) and Med-Surg units (6:1; ONC, CRPU, GSTU, NTU, MCU)

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Virginia
PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
ACLS
BLS
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Experience with cardiac drips
Experience with BiPAP, CPAP, or High Flow

Clinical Notes

Procedures on Unit: Occasional bedside cardioversion (appropriate Cath Lab staff will recover the patient)

Unit Expectations

Dress Code: All navy blue or all white scrubs, closed-toe shoes, no Crocs; facility-branded T-shirts are permitted
Shift Start: 0700/1900 sharp; late arrivals are not tolerated
Required: Attend shift huddle; bedside shift report (BSSR) with patient included in conversation for all patients, including isolation patients
