Step Down Unit Registered Nurse

Overview

• Travel assignment in Newburgh, Indiana
• 13-week contract
• Start dates: 11/16 or 11/23
• Clinical interview required
• No local candidates within 40 miles
• Primary location: Gateway
• 12-hour day shift, 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week; 48-hour contracts may be accepted upon request

Required Qualifications

• Current active compact license
• AHA BLS
• AHA ACLS
• NIHSS
• 2 years RN experience
• 1 full year of stepdown experience
• 1 travel assignment
• Trauma level II experience
• Recent EPIC experience
• Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation
• Ability to initiate and titrate drips, including antiarrhythmics, Heparin, and Insulin
• Post surgical assessment and care
• NIHSS / Neuro assessments / dysphagia screen

Preferred Qualifications

• Stable home vents
• PleurX drain / pericardial drains
• Lumber drains
• VP shunts
• Narcan drips
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Hard worker, resilient, manages change well, social candidates

Unit Details

• 16 beds
• Day ratio: 1:3-4
• Night ratio: 1:3-4
• Med-surg ratio: 1:5
• CN assignment: 1:2 patient assignment

Schedule and Float

• Three weekends out of every six-week schedule
• Every other holiday
• First to float within skillset
• May float to Midtown campus and potentially to Henderson
• 2-hour notice for cross-campus float
• Mid-shift float within the same campus is possible

Additional Notes

• On-call and call-back: N/A
• Teaching hospital; may require precepting students and new hires
• Navy blue scrubs
• No competing health systems or agency logos
• 3 call-ins can result in termination
• COVID-19 vaccine not required, subject to change
