Neuro ICU Registered Nurse

Overview

• Travel assignment in Newburgh, Indiana
• 13-week contract
• Nights, 12-hour shifts: 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week; may accept 48-hour contracts upon request
• Primary location: Gateway
• Clinical interview required
• No local candidates within a 40-mile radius

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Indiana
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Neuro ICU (1 year of experience)
• Neuro ICU experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Experience working with Level 2 Trauma patients
• Experience with ventilator management
• Dysphagia screen
• Experience with Epic
• Strong neuro assessment skills
• Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation
• Ability to initiate and titrate sedatives, paralytics, cardiac drips, and vasoactive medications
• Sepsis protocols/care
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills

Preferred Qualifications

• CRRT
• tPa administration/assessments
• Massive transfusion (Belmont)
• Hard worker
• Resilient and manages change well
• Social candidates

Unit Details

• Neuro ICU
• 32 beds
• Ratios: Days 1:3; Nights 1:3; CN typically 1:1
• External ventriculostomy devices on the unit
• Travelers will primarily be assigned to general ICU patients but may take more acute neuro patients once established

Float / Schedule Expectations

• First to float within skillset
• May float to Deaconess Midtown campus and potentially to Deaconess Henderson
• 2-hour notice for cross-campus float
• Mid-shift float within the same campus
• Three weekends out of every six-week schedule
• Every other holiday
• On-call: N/A

Additional Notes

• Teaching hospital; may require precepting students and new hires
• Navy blue scrubs
• No competing health systems or agency logos
• 3 call-ins can result in termination
• COVID-19 vaccine not required, subject to change
