Medical Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse

Overview

• Travel assignment in Newburgh, Indiana
• 13-week contract
• 12-hour nights, 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week; may accept 48s upon request
• No local candidates within a 40-mile radius

Unit

• Neuro Cardiac Unit
• 32 beds
• Patient population includes complex Med/Surg/Tele patients, post cardiac caths with interventions, CVA/TIA, ICD, complex abdominal surgeries, oncology, and cranis POD 2

Required Qualifications

• Current active compact license
• AHA BLS
• NIHSS
• Two years of strong Tele/Med/Surg experience
• 1 travel assignment
• Trauma level II experience
• Recent EPIC experience
• Strong neuro assessment skills
• Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation
• Ability to pass tele tests
• Ability to initiate and titrate drips, including insulin, cardiac, and heparin
• Heart cath recovery experience with femoral and TR bands
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills

Preferred Qualifications

• NG/PEG tubes
• PIV insertion
• Tikosyn dosing
• Chest tubes

Schedule and Float

• Three weekends out of every six-week schedule
• Every other holiday
• First to float within skillset
• May float to Deaconess Midtown campus and potentially to Deaconess Henderson
• Mid-shift float within the same campus may occur
• Cross-campus mid-shift float is unlikely but possible

Additional Notes

• Clinical interview
• Bi-weekly orientation
• Teaching hospital; may require precepting students and new hires
• Navy blue scrubs
• No competing health systems or agency logos
• 3 call-ins can result in termination
• COVID-19 vaccine not required, subject to change
