Emergency Department RN

Location: Mount Vernon, Illinois Employment type: Travel/Contract Contract length: 13 weeks Start: ASAP

Schedule and Assignment

• Day shift, 3x12 hours (11:00 to 23:30), 36 hours per week
• 3x12 or 4x12 accepted
• Ratio 1:4
• 6 scheduled weekend shifts (Sat/Sun) in a 6-week schedule
• Rotating holiday coverage
• No call requirement
• Navy scrubs

Required Qualifications

• Illinois RN license (pending IL license accepted; must apply before or upon submission)
• Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department experience, with ED experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment (unit does not accept first-time travelers)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or RQI
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or RQI
• NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale) certification, updated annually; any vendor is acceptable
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) training
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with Epic

Clinical Skills

• STEMI and stroke certified facility
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• IV therapy/phlebotomy and IV medications
• CVA, neuro-trauma, ortho-trauma, and head injuries
• CPAP/BiPAP
• Gunshot wounds and traumatic amputation
• Triage

Onboarding Requirements

• Criminal background check within 12 months of start (includes SSN trace, 7-year county search, nationwide search, and sex offender search)
• Illinois Abuse Registry search may be required by the client (ETA 6 to 8 weeks), requiring a wet-signature authorization form
• Negative drug screen within 12 months of start
• TB screening (PPD, Qgold, or TSPOT) within 12 months of start; chest X-ray if PPD is positive; TB questionnaire at start and annually
• Rubeola, mumps, rubella, and varicella immunity per the agency standard (positive titer or proof of 2 vaccines)
• Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination (new candidates only)
• Physical within 1 year of start, indicating good physical health
• Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption during flu season (annual renewal; hard deadline 12/5; declinations not accepted)
• Two references
• Government-issued photo ID, and E-Verify
• Passport-style badge photo (shoulders up, plain white or off-white background, JPEG)
• OSHA respirator clearance required prior to start
• Respirator fit test completed onsite during the first week of orientation; fit test record must be returned to the agency within two weeks of start
• Travelers must shave for a proper mask seal. CAPRs and PAPRs are not provided, and personal PAPRs or CAPRs are not allowed. Failure to shave for fit testing will result in cancellation.
• Required modules completed through the online learning platform by the compliance due date, with an annual update
• Confidentiality and security agreement and standards of ethical conduct, signed before start
• Agency orientation checklist, completed during orientation and returned within the first week
• Glucometer assessment completed during orientation, returned within 5 days
