Med Tech - Hematology

Location: Morgantown, West Virginia Contract Length: 6 months Department: Laboratory, Hematology Shift: Nights, 10-hour shifts, 8 on / 6 off schedule (40 hours/week) Schedule: 8:30 PM to 7 AM, Wednesday to Wednesday, with every other Thursday through Tuesday off

Required Qualifications

Certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist from ASCP or AMT
West Virginia High Complexity Testing Personnel (HCTP) License or Trainee License issued by the WV Department of Health
Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology/Medical (Clinical) Laboratory Science, or a bachelor's degree in a chemical or biological science, or 30 or more years of previous experience concurrent with the CLIA grandfathered exception

Preferred

Experience with coagulation testing and urinalysis instrumentation

Role Scope

Covers Blood Bank only
Works solely in the coagulation/urinalysis section of Hematology
Not a generalist role
No phlebotomy
No direct patient contact
BLS not required

Work Environment

Weekend and holiday requirements apply
No on-call or standby requirement
No designated scrub color; scrubs or business casual permitted; no open-toed shoes

Orientation

Four weeks of day-shift training
Manager reviews safety, compliance, and policies
Training checklist must be completed before independent work
