Location: Corpus Christi, Texas (unit based in Rockport, TX) Employment Type: Travel Contract Length: 6 weeks Hours: 48 per week Schedule: Weekends. No requested time off or special scheduling.

Unit Details

Unit: ER 24/7 Rockport, Floor: ER, Building: A
Beds: 6 rooms, 4 vertical beds
Staffing: 10 FTE and 4 PRN staff
Day shift: 3 RN including charge, 1 paramedic (mid shift)
Night shift: 3 RN including charge
Patient ratio: 3 to 4 patients per nurse
Equipment: Vital sign machine, BiPAP, vent, nebulizer, ortho glass, AED
Floating area: FSED
Most recruited skill set: FSED emergency department
Dress code: Blue scrubs

Typical Procedures

IV blood draw, EKG, Foley catheter
Ortho splint, wound care

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing
Rapid Response experience within the last year (minimum 1 year)
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Advanced Life Support (ALS)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

2:1, 1:1 if pt is in active labor they try to follow awhonn standards when possible. Flexible with schedule will do block schedule.

Cons

Only thing they will float travelers to antepartum or assign pp pts on hold in L&D unit more frequently instead of rotating the nurses.
