Registered Nurse: MS Tele RN

Location: Oakland, California Employment Type: Travel/Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Night, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 to 07:30) Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience (2 years), with experience within the last year
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIHSS certification (NIH Stroke Certification; expiration is 1 or 2 years from the achieved date)
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Scheduling

• Every other weekend
• On call as needed

Floating

• May float to other units within scope of practice.
• May float to another campus in the system, depending on need and census.
• Travelers can usually expect 1.5 hours' notice before shift start.
• A shuttle is provided if floating is requested.

Role Responsibilities

• Assess, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate nursing care in an acute care setting, including direct patient care, patient and family education, and transitions of care.
• Develop and coordinate individualized plans of care, communicate with physicians and the healthcare team, and document patient response to care in the electronic health record.
• Verify and help validate competency of newly hired and student staff, and serve as a clinical resource and mentor to new staff, as requested.

Onboarding and Compliance Requirements

• Background: 7-year background check within 6 months of start; EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks annually; sex offender search within 90 days of start; FACIS Level 3 search within 2 weeks of start, then monthly.
• Employment history: Full 7 years of work history with no gaps on the application; 2 professional references within 3 years of hire.
• Health: Physical exam within 1 year of start; negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (marijuana/cannabinoids excluded for California).
• TB: TB screening questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually; negative QuantiFERON/T-SPOT within 90 days of start or 2 PPDs, renewed annually.
• Immunizations: Measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and hepatitis B immunity documentation (titer, vaccine series, or signed declination); Tdap within 10 years; seasonal flu vaccine or signed declination during flu season (November 1 to April 30).
• Other: Fit test within 1 year, renewed annually; in-person color blind exam; RespSafety clearance renewed annually; NURSYS and state license primary source verification within 30 days of start.
• Facility documents: Multiple sign-off documents (e.g., code of conduct, HIPAA agreement, confidentiality agreement) and a unit-specific skills checklist, completed before start.
