Cardiac Tele: Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Long Beach, California Contract Length: 13 weeks Schedule: Night shifts, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM), 36 hours per week Unit: 3 West (MedSurg/Tele) Float Coverage: MedSurg and ED hold Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend, number of weekend shifts as needed Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics Scrubs: Navy blue or solid color

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience (2 years)
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience working with post cardiac cath patients
• Experience working with cardiac surgery patients
• Experience with feeding tubes
• IV insulin protocols
• Continuous bladder irrigation (CBI)
• Pre/post hemodialysis management
• Accessing and managing ports
• Blood product administration
• Central line care and management
• Heparin protocols
• Experience with Epic

Health, Background, and Documentation Requirements

Background and Identity

• Standard background check within one year of start, updated annually, with a 7-year search (SSN trace, county, and nationwide searches, plus sex offender registry)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Government-issued photo ID
• Emergency contact form
• Two professional references
• Employment application
• Clear headshot photo for badge (not required at this location)

Health

• Physical exam within one year of start (not required annually)
• Tdap within the last 10 years (candidate may decline)
• Negative TB test (QuantiFERON, T-SPOT, or 2-step PPD) within one year of start, plus annual TB questionnaire
• Titers or vaccines for measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, and varicella (declination accepted for some with low or equivocal titers)
• N95 fit mask, renewed annually (any N95 accepted; no onsite fit testing)
• Flu vaccine required November 1 to April 30 (candidate may decline)
• COVID vaccination record preferred

Drug Screen

• Negative 9-panel drug screen within one year of start (instant screen accepted; no marijuana panel)
• California: urine marijuana testing is prohibited. Saliva THC testing is allowed when the client requires it, and both urine and saliva screens may be required.

Education and Policies

• HIPAA education module, completed before the EMR education
• EMR education modules, about 8 hours, with deadlines set by facility
• Review of drug and alcohol free policy, hand hygiene policy, dress and appearance policy, discharge optimization, and care briefing (nothing to turn in)
