Registered Nurse – Operating Room

Location: Waterbury, Connecticut Employment type: Travel/Contract Contract length: 13 weeks

Schedule

40 hours per week
Day shift, 4x10 or 5x8 accepted, 6:45a–3:15p or 6:45a–5:15p (10-hour days)
Weekend coverage every third weekend
Call: one weekday per week and one weekend per month, 24 hours Saturday/Sunday

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Connecticut
1 year of Operating Room experience, including OR experience within the last year
One completed travel assignment
BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or RQI
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Restrictions

Does not accept first-time travelers.

Patient age groups: Adolescents, adults, geriatrics
Ambulatory OR, General OR, and Trauma
General surgery: Laparoscopic-assisted cases, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical), laparoscopic-assisted procedures, mastectomy, scrub general surgery
Gynecologic: Abdominal/vaginal hysterectomy, anterior/posterior repair, bilateral tubal ligation, laparoscopic-assisted gynecologic procedures
Orthopedic and spine: Carpal tunnel release, closed and open reduction of fractures, laminectomy/discectomy, spinal fusion, total joint replacement, bunionectomy, hallux valgus arthroplasty/arthrodesis, metatarsal surgery
Robotic surgery: Gastrointestinal, gynecologic, urologic
Trauma: Amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, MVA (multiple injuries)

Systems and Equipment

Software familiarity: Omnicell (medication), Cerner (documentation), SBAR (communication)

Onboarding

Facility training modules assigned after receiving login credentials directly from the facility. Modules must be completed before the first day.
Scrubs provided
Local candidates (within 75 miles) must be noted at submission.
