Overview
- Location: Salem, Massachusetts
- Employment type: LTA
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Unit: Labor & Delivery/Post Partum Unit
- Unit description: 25-bed Labor & Delivery unit that includes L&D, PP, NBN, 2 ORs, 2 RRs, and 2 ANU rooms
- Bed count: 5 LD rooms, 12 PP beds, 2 ORs, 2 RRs, and 2 ANU rooms with 4 beds
- Average daily census: 15-25 mothers, babies, and labors
- Floating: Not required
- Charting system: EPIC (software familiarity only)
Schedule
- Shift times: Rotate between 7:00am-7:30pm, 11:00am-11:30pm, and 7:00pm-7:30am, with EOW
- Rotation: Primarily a day position with rotation to evenings and nights as needed
- Straight days: Not offered
Staffing Ratios
- L&D: 1:2-3 for evals, 1:1 for active labor, and magnesium drip or epidural
- PP: 1:3-4
Required Qualifications
- Valid Massachusetts RN license
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- 3 years of Labor, Delivery, Recovery & Postpartum (LDRP) experience, with LDRP experience within the last year
- Labor and Delivery experience
- Experience as an OB circulator
- Experience working with neonate patients
- BLS issued by the American Heart Association (AHA only, as this location accepts only AHA)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- EFM (renewed every 2 years for L&D; NCC, K2, or AWHONN accepted, with a 2-year renewal)
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
- N95 fit test: Completed within 365 days of start, using the facility's record form. Onsite fit testing is not offered, and religious or medical exemptions are not allowed.
- Respirator medical clearance: Questionnaire completed before fit testing and updated with any medical status change
- Immunizations and screening:
- MMR documentation or immunity titer
- Influenza vaccine, effective 10/4/2026 for new travelers and due by 11/13/2026 for travelers on assignment. No exemptions or waivers. Pharmacy- or provider-administered flu mist is accepted; self-administered is not.
- TB screening within 3 months of start (skin test, or negative QuantiFERON or T-spot)
- Physician health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days
- Background checks:
- Criminal background check within 45 days of start, including county, international, and SSN trace checks
- Massachusetts CORI within 30 days of start
- National sex offender check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, and NH Medicaid) within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Education verification (not required for CNA positions)
- License verification: Primary source verification within 30 days of start. Conditional Massachusetts licenses are not accepted. Both NURSYS and BON are required.
- Submission documents:
- Resume covering the past 7 years, with city and state for all work and education
- 2 references within 4 years, with at least 1 supervisor or above
- Skills checklist completed within 1 year
- Candidate submission coversheet
- Other onboarding forms: Confirmation of Assignment/POI form and an attestation completed after registering in the onboarding system

Pros
They pay you? Athena was a fantastic front desk employee. She was always helpful and polite and respectful.
Cons
When I was groped at work by a fellow coworker, I told management. From my perspective she was not reprimanded. She had a day or two off , and semi-apologized privately (it also seemed insincere). I was still forced to work with her throughout the rest of the time I was contracted there. When a majority of the staff abandoned me and a new hire got the end of the day, we were managed by an equal from another department on another floor. That technologist walked in and made assumptions; created havoc and reported falsehoods. Management had a departmental meeting the very next afternoon and stuck with the false accusations which were shown to be inaccurate and untrue by time-stamped Epic charting. I would talk about training, but does 30 minutes of showing how to do something with no explanation count? -No it does not. I was verbally accosted by a per diem technologist in front of a patient, and I was told I was wrong for doing my job. I was also told that I was pre-labeled as a liar by the per diem before I got into the department. Would I recommend working here- only if you’re a strong-charactered woman who has befriended the queen bees before interviewing- maybe.
