7W Stepdown/MedSurg RN

Location: Morgantown, West Virginia Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts (7p-7:30a) Hours: 36 hours per week

Unit Details

• Unit: 7 West (Stepdown & Floor)
• Beds: 32 total (12 Stepdown, 20 Floor)
• Ratios: 1:3 for Stepdown; 1:4-6 for Floor
• Nurse Aides: Run with 4 if fully staffed for 32 beds
• Charge Nurse: Budgeted for one charge nurse per unit; House Supervisor always available
• Respiratory Therapy: RT equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPAP, etc.) handled per RT
• Typical Patients: Medical-surgical population, including chest pain, COPD, AMS, pneumonia, UTI, abdominal pain, overflow for most services, and hospice (patients may be "flipped" to hospice on 7 West)
• Drips: Titratable drips in Stepdown only; Floor gets PCAs, heparin, etc.
• Telemetry: Yes. RNs must be able to read strips in conjunction with telemetry monitor techs who continuously monitor strips.
• Floating: Can be pulled to any floor or Stepdown unit
• Scrub Color: Royal Blue

Required Qualifications

• Certification: BLS

Schedule Requirements

• 2 weekends per schedule
• Holidays worked into the permanent staff holiday schedule
• 12-hour nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled

Submission Requirements

• Submit to only 1 position at a time
• Submit travel teams together in one email
• Maximum of 2 candidates per opening; if the position is at max, submissions are held until a spot opens
• Driver's license address must be outside 50 miles of the facility
• Unexpired copy of the candidate's driver's license required with all submittals
• Previous permanent candidates must be gone for 2 years
• Previous travelers who worked there for 1 full year must be gone for 2 years
• Individual unit requirements apply

Vaccination Requirement

• COVID vaccine required. Fully vaccinated means 2 doses of Moderna or Pfizer, or 1 dose of J&J.
• Medical or religious exemptions require the appropriate exemption form, submitted ASAP because approval goes through a council.
