Generalist (MLS/MLT)

Location: Tuba City, Arizona Employment type: Contract, 13 weeks Shift: Night shift tech, 6pm to 6am, alternating 3 and 4 shifts per week Orientation: Every 2 weeks

Facility and Department

• JCAHO accredited health center serving a 4,400 square mile area as a referral center for the western Navajo and Hopi Reservations
• 73-bed hospital with comprehensive inpatient and outpatient emergency services, orthopedics, OB/GYN, oral surgery, eye surgery, and urological procedures
• Approximately 49% of surgeries are outpatient or ambulatory
• Laboratory provides 24-hour coverage and sub-specialties in chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, blood bank, microbiology, and clinical microscopy
• Rotating day, evening, or night shifts, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime

Position Summary

Performs specimen processing, testing, and reporting of test results in compliance with regulatory requirements, policy and procedures, and the goal of providing quality patient care.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 0.5 years of Medical Laboratory Technician experience, with the experience obtained within the last year
• Either a high school diploma plus at least 60 semester hours including chemistry, biology, and laboratory science (Medical Laboratory Technician), or a Bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science with at least 48 semester hours of science coursework (Medical Laboratory Scientist)
• Experience on the chemistry bench
• Experience on the hematology bench
• Experience on the microbiology bench
• Experience in the blood bank
