Overview

• Location: Bend, Oregon
• Employment type: Travel/Contract
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day shift, 4x12 hours (7:00–19:30)
• Hours: 12 per day, 48 per week

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Oregon
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Float experience: 2 years of experience
• Float experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Experience with Colorectal Surgery cases
• Experience with Total Joint surgery cases
• Oncology experience
• Trauma experience
• Bariatric experience

Float Scope

• Any med surg unit in the system, and any unit as a 1:1 observer
• May be assigned as primary RN in any med surg department, or as a 1:1 observer in any clinical department
• May be assigned to the ED to care for boarding med surg patients
• Campus locations:

  • Bend: 218 beds, level 2 trauma center
  • Madras: 15-bed critical access hospital
  • Prineville: 12-bed critical access hospital
  • Redmond: 36-bed level 4 trauma center

Schedule and Eligibility

• Weekend shifts: Required, equal to 1 per week of contact (may be every other weekend or spread across weekends)
• On-call: Not required; no scheduled on-call shifts, but may be placed on standby
• RTO restrictions: 7 days
• First-time travelers: Not accepted unless they have 3–5 years of experience
• Local candidates: Not accepted (75-mile radius rule); proof of address required

Onboarding Requirements

• Background checks (within 90 days of start): 7-year criminal background check (updated annually; includes SSN trace, counties lived/worked/school, FACIS L3, DOJ Sex Offender Search, nationwide), EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
• Drug screen: Negative 12-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (not required annually)
• Physical exam: Within 1 year of start (not required annually)
• Tdap: Within 10 years of start; must be given after age 19 (declination accepted)
• TB: Negative QuantiFERON (QGold) within 1 year of start; TB questionnaire required annually. Positive responders need a negative chest X-ray within 5 years and annual TB questionnaire. As of 4/2026, TSpot and PPD are no longer acceptable.
• Measles, mumps, rubella, varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (low/equivocal titer: 1 booster or declination acceptable)
• Hepatitis B: Positive titer required (vaccine series alone not acceptable); low/equivocal titer: booster or declination acceptable
• Influenza (2026–27): Vaccine or declination/exemption required during flu season (10/1–3/31); deadline 12/01; masking required during high transmission regardless of vaccine status
• COVID: Vaccine preferred, not required; declination or exemption required if never vaccinated
• RespSafety clearance: Within 1 year of start and annually
• Skills checklist: Required annually
• Documents: Photo for badge (clear, passport-style, solid background); acceptable use and confidentiality agreement; contractual and third-party access agreement; compliance and privacy program attestation; emergency contact form. All due within 48 hours of signing and no later than 2 Wednesdays before start.
