PACU RN Travel Contract
Overview
- Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
- Employment type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Day, 4x10 hours, 7:30 AM–6:00 PM
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Setting: Short-term acute care, Level I trauma center, Magnet and teaching hospital
- Unit type: PACU with IR pre/post recovery
- Patient population: Adults, occasional adolescents, and geriatric patients
Schedule and Work Expectations
- No weekends, holidays, or call
- Floating is limited to PACU or PreOp units
- Block scheduling is not available
- Night shift staff must learn pre-op workflow
- RTO limit: no more than 7 days
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- PACU - Post Anesthesia Care (2 years of experience)
- PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience within the last year
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- Experience in a(n) Inpatient setting
- Experience in a(n) Critical Care setting
- Dysrhythmia recognition and management
- Blood product administration
- Intravenous vasopressor administration
- Intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring
- Care of ventilated patients
- Experience with Epic
Additional Notes
- Unit has 38 patient bays
- Average daily census: 70–90
- Surgical recovery includes neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant cases
- Does not recover open heart surgeries or liver transplants
- Unit has its own PCT/transport team
- Local candidates are not accepted; home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
