Medical Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse

Overview

• Travel RN assignment in Evansville, Indiana
• Primary location: Midtown
• Cardiac Renal Unit MS/Tele RN
• 12-hour nights, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week; may accept 48-hour contracts upon request
• Contract length: 13 or 20 weeks
• No local candidates within 40 miles

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Indiana
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience)
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation
• Initiate and titrate drips (antiarrhythmics, Heparin, amino, etc.)
• PIV insertion
• Chest tube and indwelling drain management
• CBI (continuous bladder irrigation)
• Antidysrhythmic medication dosing (cardizem, tikosyn, amiodarone)
• Nephrostomy tube management
• Trauma experience
• Experience with Epic

Preferred

• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Hard worker, resilient, manages change well
• Social candidates

Unit Details

• 41-bed unit
• High-acuity Tele/M/S with cardiac-heavy patient population
• Ratios: Days 1:4-5; Nights 1:5-7
• First to float within skillset
• May float to Deaconess Newburgh campus and potentially to Deaconess Henderson
• Mid-shift float within the same campus is possible
• Teaching hospital; may require precepting students and new hires

Schedule Requirements

• Three weekends out of every six-week schedule
• Every other holiday
• On-call: N/A

Clinical Skills / Patient Population

• Afib with RVR, Afib, flutter, blocks
• Heart cath without interventions
• CHF, COPD, sepsis, BH/CIWA
• Post ablations, dialysis
• Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation
• Initiate and titrate drips, including antiarrhythmics and heparin
• PIV insertion
• Chest tube and indwelling drain management
• CBI
• Nephrostomy tubes
