Overview

• Location: Sacramento, California (near Sacramento)

• Contract length: 8 weeks
• Assignment type: Travel
• Patient volume: 5-8 patient seen/consults per day
• Scrub/uniform: White lab coat

Schedule

• Shifts: Day, Evening; Wes-Sat, 1600-0230 (as written in source)
• Shift lengths: 12-hour shifts; 40 hours per week
• Alternate shift option: 2p-2:30a or 3p-3:30a, every other weekend
• Weekends: Every Saturday
• Holidays: Yes, rotate with staff
• Coverage: RT and pharmacy available 24/7

Coverage and Float Scope

• Primary area: Emergency Department (ED)
• Floating: Can float in house, based on hospital need

Requirements

• Master's degree in social work from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)-accredited school of social work
• Valid Social Worker license in California
• Active MSW/LCSW
• At least 2 years of Social Worker experience, including clinical and/or medical social work
• Social Worker experience within the last year
• Prior recent California health-system social work experience; candidates without it will not be considered
• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
• 5150 certification (must be obtained at the county level after starting)
• Excellent customer service and presentation skills
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
• Ability to apply analytical and problem-solving skills, manage multiple tasks, work independently with high attention to detail, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Submittal Requirements

• Two supervisor references: one within the last 12 months and one within the last 3 years worked; references must come from the submitting modality (charge accepted at submittal)
• Copy of driver's license at submittal; name must match a government-issued ID, with no middle initial or middle name
• External hires must pass a post-offer, pre-employment background check and drug screen

Responsibilities

• Perform social work assessments and interventions for inpatients, outpatients, and ED patients
• Provide crisis intervention, patient and family intervention, high-risk screening, brief counseling, and referrals for financial or other resource needs
• Arrange and facilitate family and patient representative meetings with the healthcare team
• Assist with post-acute placement for complex discharges and engage community agencies and resources for high-risk patients
• Work collaboratively with physicians, case managers, nursing staff, county agencies, patients, and families
• Serve on hospital committees and help develop and present in-services to hospital staff
