Required Qualifications

• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS
• Experience: Critical care (PACU/ICU)
• Other: Driver's license (DL) must be submitted
• Travel radius: 60 miles
• Orientation: Must be in state for orientation week, even if first-day modules are remote

Unit Details

• Unit: PACU
• Beds: 13 Preop, 19 PACU, 5 Phase 2
• Phases: Preop, Phase 1, and Phase 2
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1 for pediatric or unstable patients, otherwise 2:1
• Common cases: Ortho (total joints and spine), OB/GYN, General, Urology, Endoscopy
• Patient population: ICU patients recover in PACU
• Nurse aides: None on this unit
• Respiratory equipment: Ventilators, Optiflow, BiPAP, CPAP
• RNs read strips: Yes
• Charge nurse: Charge nurse takes an assignment as needed
• EMR: Epic (software familiarity, not a credential)
• Floating: Within the unit (Preop and PACU Phases 1 and 2)
• Orientation focus: Preop/PACU, primarily PACU
• Dress code: Blue scrubs; change into facility-provided scrubs

Schedule and Call

• Shifts: Variable 10- or 12-hour shifts that stagger between 6 and 10 am. 10-hour shifts are needed more; 1 to 2 12-hour shifts with call are required.
• Scheduling: Hybrid. Requests are taken, but shifts are not guaranteed. No block scheduling.
• Weeknight call: Yes, 1930 to 0730, 1 night per week (12 hours)
• Weekend call: Yes, PRN, every 6th weekend (12.5 hours). Days are Sat and Sun 0700 to 1930; nights are Fri, Sat, and Sun 1900 to 0730.
• Holiday call: Yes, as needed, 2 holidays per year (24 hours, 0700 to 0700), including Thanksgiving and Christmas
• Call response time: 30 minutes
