Overview
- Travel/Contract role in Rancho Mirage, California
- Night shift: 3x12 hours, 19:00–7:00
- 36 hours per week
- 13-week contract
- Unit: ICU
- Average daily census: 20
- No first time travelers
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- ICU - Intensive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
- ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience working with Stroke patients
- Experience working with Post Cardiac Cath patients
- Experience working with STEMI patients
- Experience with arterial lines
- Experience with central line management
- Experience with PICC line management
- Experience with ventilator management
- IV insertion skills
- Experience with conscious or moderate sedation
- Experience with Epic
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of ICU experience
- CCRN
- CRRT
- ICP
- Pre/Post Cardiac Cath/Intervention skills
- Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring skills
- Sheath removal skills
- GI Surgery
- CVVHD/CRRT/Shunts and Fistula Care skills
- External ventricular drains (EVD)
- ICP Monitoring
- Post Neurosurgery management
- Assist with management of CPAP
- Phlebotomy skills
- Surgical Wounds with drains/Wound Vac skills
- EPIC experience
Schedule / Work Expectations
- Work 3–4 weekend shifts per month
- May be placed on call
- May be required to float to MS/Tele and SDU
Unit / Clinical Details
- Adult ICU
- No trauma
- No BMT
- Covers all other ICU illnesses and conditions
- Strong cardiac experience required
- Respiratory, stroke, sepsis, DKA, post-operative complication, STEMI, chest pain, and MI patient experience
- Pre/post cardiac cath experience required
- CVICU/CTICU cardiothoracic surgery coverage may be needed
- Strong neuro assessment skills, including hemorrhagic stroke
- Special procedures include central line placement, arterial line placement, EKG, peripheral A-line, cardiac drips, intubation, tracheostomy, thoracentesis, paracentesis, dialysis catheter placement, therapeutic hypothermia, IABP when specified for CVICU/CTICU, and pacemaker care
