ER Registered Nurse

• Location: Hagerstown, Maryland
• Employment type: Travel/Contract
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM), 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Setting

• Level 2 Trauma Center with high-acuity patients
• 54-bed ER that sees an average of 220 patients per day
• Very busy and fast paced

Weekend Requirements

• No set weekend rotation for agency team members
• Up to six weekend shifts per six-week scheduling period (Friday or Saturday for night shift; Saturday or Sunday for day shift)
• Night shift team members may be assigned up to three Sundays per scheduling period

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Maryland
• ED (Emergency Department): 2 years of experience
• ED (Emergency Department) experience within the last year
• 1 year or more of total travel experience
• BLS issued by American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or United States Department of Defense
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or United States Department of Defense
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or United States Department of Defense
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience with Epic

Preferred Qualifications

• TNCC is preferred for ICU (in addition to being required for ER)

Onboarding Requirements

• Background and screening:

  • 7-year criminal background check, completed within one year of start and updated annually. Must cover all locations lived or worked in the past 7 years, including SS trace, counties, nationwide, sex offender registry, and FACIS level 3.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, required annually
  • E-Verify proof or attestation
  • Driver's license copy and proof of state residency
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within one year of start (instant/rapid screens acceptable if 10-panel)
• Health and immunizations:

  • Physical exam within one year of start
  • Fit test within one year of start, updated annually
  • Tdap within 10 years of start
  • Negative TB test (Qgold, T-spot, or two-step PPD within one year; second PPD within six months, at least one week apart) or chest X-ray, plus TB questionnaire updated annually
  • Two-step PPD and flu vaccine required, with no exemptions
  • Flu vaccine required for the 2026-27 season; declinations and exemptions not accepted
  • Measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella: positive titer or two vaccines (negative titers require two boosters 28 days apart)
  • Hepatitis B: proof of positive titer, vaccination, or declination
• References and training:

  • Proof of two clinical references
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgement
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam and other competency exams as applicable
  • Skills checklist for the applicable unit, updated annually
