RN (Registered Nurse) – SCN/Post Partum

Location: Burien, Washington Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Nights, 12 hours/day, 36 hours/week Unit: Special Care Nursery (SCN)/PP, NICU Level 2, 5 beds

Required Qualifications

• Certifications: NRP, BLS
• Must be skilled in attending deliveries as the baby nurse
• IV start and maintenance
• Transfer to higher level of care
• Experience with Bubble CPAP and Hiflow
• Experience with umbilical line placement assist and maintenance

Preferred Qualifications

• NICU Level 2 and postpartum experience

Clinical Details

• Patient types: Phototherapy, gainers/growers, respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, withdrawal, sepsis
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3 babies
• RNs titrate drips: Yes. Common drips: D5W, TPN
• Respiratory equipment: CPAP, BiPap, Hiflow, vent (prior to transfer)
• Monitoring: No telemetry or monitor techs, and no central monitoring
• Support: Neonatologist in house 24/7. No nurse aides on the unit. Charge nurse rarely takes an assignment.

Schedule and Floating

• Block scheduling
• Every other weekend
• Holidays: 1 summer and 1 winter
• Call or standby required
• First to float. If there are no babies in the newborn unit, the nurse takes a postpartum assignment (3 MB couplets).

Onboarding

• Scrubs provided
• 3 nights of orientation with staff
