Location: San Marcos, Texas Employment Type: Travel, Full Time Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Texas (or compact RN license)
• 2 years of CCU - Coronary Care experience
• CCU - Coronary Care experience within the last year
• Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association
• Current ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with Epic

• DKA
• Post-STEMI
• Stroke (post-TNK)
• Intubated/ventilated patients
• ARDS
• MODS
• CHF exacerbation
• COPD exacerbation
• GI bleeds
• Renal failure (CRRT/SLED)
• Liver failure
• IABP
• Impellas

Role Summary

• Practices independently and provides routine and complex care in a critical care setting.
• Nursing care follows the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice and the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Administers medications and treatments per protocol, monitors for side effects and effectiveness, and documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care.
• Addresses patient and family psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs, and provides education.
• Makes assignments and delegates to other care providers to help manage the clinical situation.

Onboarding and Orientation

• Newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
• New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member.
• Initial onboarding requires completing the entry competency validation and a Critical Care department-specific competency validation.
• Annual competency verification must be completed.
