Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse

Overview

• Travel assignment in Evansville, Indiana
• Primary location: Midtown
• 13-week contract
• 12-hour day shift: 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week; may accept 48 hours upon request
• No local candidates within a 40-mile radius

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Indiana
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience)
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Trauma experience
• Experience with Epic
• PIV insertion
• Chest tube and indwelling drain management
• CBI (continuous bladder irrigation)
• Stable drips management (heparin, lasix, protonix)
• Epidural management
• Ostomy care
• Blood product administration
• Pre- and post-heart catheterization care (femoral/transradial bands, no interventions)

Unit / Assignment Details

• Surgical Medical Care Center MS RN
• 41-bed unit
• Ratios: Days 1:5-6; nights 1:6-7
• CN takes a patient assignment
• First to float within skillset
• Float scope includes Deaconess Newburgh (IN) campus and potential float to Deaconess Henderson (KY)
• Mid-shift float within the same campus is possible; cross-campus mid-shift float is unlikely but possible
• Three weekends out of every six-week schedule
• Every other holiday
• Teaching hospital; may require precepting of students and new-hires
• Navy blue scrubs
• COVID-19 vaccine not required, subject to change

Clinical Experience / Patient Population

• Post-surgical patients including whipples, vascular, pre/post heart caths, bariatric, ENT, podiatry, and open bellies
• Dementia, AMS, CIWA/detox, q2 hour turns, fall risks, and thyroid surgeries

• PIV insertion
• Chest tube and indwelling drain management
• CBI
• Stable drips: heparin, lasix, protonix
• Epidural management
• Ostomy care
• Blood product administration
• Tele interpretation
• Wound care including packing, wound vacs, and dressing changes
• Pre/post heart cath care including Fem./TR bands and no interventions
