Surgery Tech

Location: Golden, Colorado Contract Length: 13 weeks Schedule: 3 x 12-hour day shifts (0645-1915), Monday-Friday, 36 hours per week, no set day off Call: Weekend call and holiday shifts required

Job Summary

• Performs duties as a member of the surgical team to ensure a safe and successful operative procedure.
• Works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and reports to Surgical Services management.
• Supports system-wide and surgical operations initiatives and practices, and actively participates in the surgical operations safety plan.

Responsibilities

• Maintains accountability for ensuring the operating room and all surgical items meet sterilization criteria.
• Maintains the sterile field, ensures a safe environment, and addresses sharps and fire safety processes.
• Prepares the operating room and instruments for the procedure and assists the surgeon(s) within ORT scope of practice.
• Responds to emergency situations and exercises judgment when implementing emergency procedures.
• Assists with room turnover, cleaning, and preparation for the next procedure.
• May assist with sterile processing.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Surgical Technologist license in Colorado
• 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
• Completion of an accredited operating room technician or surgical technology program, or graduation from a non-accredited surgical tech program within the past six months, or two years of scrub tech experience in hospital or military surgical services within the last three years
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist
• Experience in a hospital setting
• Experience in supervisory roles
• Ability to scrub
