Critical Care Float

Role Overview

• Travel/Contract RN assignment in Saint Louis, Missouri.
• ICU Float/CV ICU required.
• Night shift: 3x12 hours, 18:45–7:15.
• 36 hours per week.
• Contract length: 18 weeks.

Unit / Float Scope

• Floating to multiple ICUs including Trauma, Oncology, Cardiac / Heart and Vascular, Neurology, Medicine, and COVID.
• If ICU needs are low, may float to inpatient floors as a staff nurse.
• May also float to non-critical care units and may be asked to work as a patient sitter.
• Unit staffing ratio in ICU: 2:1 for all shifts.
• Inpatient floor ratio when floated: no more than 1:3.

Required Qualifications

• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Critical Care Float (2 years of experience)
• Critical Care Float experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Trauma experience

• Cardiac skill set:

  • Swans-hemodynamic interpretation
  • IABP
  • Impella
  • ECMO
  • Vasoactive drips
  • CRRT
• Chemo
• CCRN
• ONS
• TNCC
• CPI
• Triage
• ICP
• PA lines
• Level 1 Trauma experience
• CRRT experience
• Past EPIC experience strongly preferred

Schedule / Time Off

• Every other weekend required, or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule.
• Holiday rotation required.

Additional Notes

• Does not require specific CVICU experience.
• Charting: EPIC.
• Scrub color: Navy Blue.
