Medical Technologist

Schedule

• Shift: Day, 4x10 hours (8:00 to 18:00)
• Hours: 10 per day, 40 per week
• Float: No
• Weekends: Every other weekend

Role Overview

• Performs complex laboratory procedures and tests in blood bank, chemistry, hematology, immunology, and microbiology, using established protocols.
• Evaluates specimens, applies established criteria for testing, and monitors, screens, and troubleshoots devices, tests, and procedures to ensure quality results.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Technologist, with experience within the last year
• ASCP MT, MLT, or MLS certification
• Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
• Experience working with Level 2 Trauma patients
• Experience with Epic

Certifications and Clearances

• BLS: AHA, ARC, MTN, or Canadian AHA, if applicable
• State license/certification: Valid state licensure as required for services performed, verified within 30 days of start
• Color blind exam: Required
• Background check: Required within 60 days of start, including a 7-year search, SSN trace, national criminal search, federal search, and Social Security verification. Also includes EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, run 15 days before start and every 45 days after.
• Education verification: Highest education related to specialty required. Transcript or diploma accepted if the school cannot be verified.
• Washington State Patrol check: Required within 90 days before start for Washington placements
• Drug screen: Required within 30 days of start, with no annual renewal. Marijuana is required only for Oregon and Alaska candidates.

Health and Immunizations

• Physical exam: Required within 1 year of start, no annual renewal
• TB: Negative IGRA or 2 PPDs within 1 year of start. TB questionnaire required annually in lieu of renewing TB testing.
• Respirator fit test: Required for onsite candidates within 1 year of start and updated annually
• RespSafety clearance: Required for all onsite candidates, updated annually
• Tdap: Vaccine or declination required
• Hepatitis B: Positive titer, facility-specific declination, or Hep B series with positive titer
• MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) and varicella: Lab evidence of immunity, boosters, 2 vaccines at least 28 days apart, or facility-specific declination
• Flu: Vaccine or declination documentation required during flu season (11/01 to 03/31). Working candidates' deadline is 10/31. AK and WA candidates may decline for medical or religious reasons. OR candidates may decline, but seasonal vaccine is strongly recommended.

Onboarding Requirements

• Orientation quiz completed in the facility's system before start, with a 100% score required
• Traveler orientation checklist, brought to the first day
• Facility demographic form due 2 Fridays before start
• Criminal disclosure statement signed before start
• Passport-style badge photo with a white or gray background
