Telemetry RN – ER Holding

Overview

• Location: Lakewood, California
• Unit: ED, working on Tele Overflow patients
• Assignment type: Travel/Contract, 13 weeks
• Shift: Night, 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
• Hours: 12 per day, 36 per week
• Float: Float required
• Weekend coverage: Yes
• Travelers: First-time travelers accepted; local candidates accepted

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Passing score of 80% on the Arrhythmia Recognition Assessment (EKG exam). Ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, third-degree heart block, and asystole must be identified correctly with correct interventions.
• Basic Dysrhythmia Exam
• Medication/Calculation Exam
• Unit-specific competency exam
• Only CPI Blue Card is accepted for ER; MAB is not accepted. Check the unit description to confirm whether CPI is required.
• Continuing education copies from the last 24 months (each entry must list name, course, completion date, and at least 1 contact hour; BLS cannot count)

Health and Background

• Criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually, with a 7-year search. Open cases and DUI hits within the last 5 years lead to automatic cancellation.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• N95 fit test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (PAPR accepted only with proof of a failed N95 fit test)
• Negative TB test (PPD, TSpot, or QuantiFERON) within 1 year of start, or a negative chest X-ray within 4 years plus an annual TB questionnaire
• Measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines after age 1
• Tdap (a Pertussis titer is accepted if Tdap cannot be obtained for a health reason)
• Hepatitis B series or declination (titer not accepted)
• Hepatitis C titer (strongly preferred; declination accepted with a reason)
• 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start (instant drug screen accepted)
• Flu vaccine by 12/5 for the 2026–27 season, or a signed declination. Declinations are accepted, but candidates who decline must follow masking requirements.
