Telemetry Observation RN

Location: Attleboro, Massachusetts Employment Type: Travel/Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks Specialty: Registered Nurse Facility: Acute care hospital, 127 staffed beds

Position Overview

• Unit: Telemetry observation unit, 10 beds
• Patients: Observation patients being ruled out for certain diagnoses, usually a 24 to 48 hour stay
• Diagnoses: Varies (medical), with occasional overflow surgical
• Medication drips: None
• Ratios: Unknown
• Shift: Night, 4x12 hours (19:00 to 7:30)
• Hours: 12 hours per day, 48 hours per week
• Guaranteed hours: 36 hours for 3x12 shifts, 48 hours for 4x12 shifts, or 40 hours for shifts under 12 hours
• Weekends: 2-3 weekend shifts in 6 weeks (Saturday/Sunday)
• On-call: 5-6 night shifts in 6 weeks (22:00 to 07:00)
• Float: May float within scope to Medical/Surgical Telemetry (M/S Tele) to meet facility needs
• Block schedule: To be determined by unit needs
• Scrubs: Any color, no jean material

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts
• 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, with experience within the last year
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience with Cerner
• Experience with Epic

Background and Compliance

• Seven-year background check, updated annually, including SS trace, county searches, nationwide search, and sex offender search
• Completed background check required before start (pending not allowed)
• Massachusetts iCORI clearance, completed online and valid for one year
• Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry search, required for all travelers in MA
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, required

Health Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
• N95 fit test within the last 6 months, using one of six listed masks
• Tdap, then Td every 10 years; declinations only with documented serious adverse reaction to Tdap
• TB: 2-step PPD (one within 1 year and one within 90 days of start), or QuantiFERON/T-SPOT within 90 days; past positives require a negative chest X-ray within 5 years and an annual TB questionnaire
• Measles, mumps, rubella: immune titer or 2 vaccines
• Hepatitis B: titer with a numerical value above 10, or signed declination
• Varicella: immune titer or 2 vaccines; documented disease history not accepted
• Drug screen within 30 days prior to start (9-panel minimum; marijuana not tested)
• COVID-19 vaccine required; exemption only with signed medical or religious reason
• Seasonal flu vaccine required September through April; medical or religious exemption accepted case by case
