RN ENDO GI/LAB Days

Overview

• Specialty: Registered Nurse, Endoscopy
• Location: West Hills, California
• Contract Length: 16 weeks
• Shift: Day shift, 07:30–16:00, Monday–Friday (8 hours/day, 40 hours/week)
• Schedule: No call or weekends
• Travel Eligibility: First-time travelers are accepted if experience requirements are met
• Floating: May float to sister facilities based on facility needs

Unit and Setting

• Department: Endoscopy area / GI Laboratory
• Rooms: 2 procedure rooms, 2 pre-op rooms, 3 recovery bays
• Patient Volume: About 30 patients per day for colonoscopies and upper GI endoscopies
• Ratio: 1:2
• Parking: Free, underground

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Endoscopy experience (2 years)
• Endoscopy experience within the last year
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Experience with Epic

Clinical Skills and Responsibilities

• Knowledge of all areas of endoscopy/GI lab care, including conscious sedation
• Knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, and side effects
• Cardiac monitoring knowledge and ability to identify dysrhythmias
• Ability to assist physicians with procedures while maintaining medical and surgical asepsis
• Ability to move between the endoscopy area and GI lab as needed
• Self-motivated, with patient care and privacy as top priorities

Pre-Start Requirements

• Background and Verification: Background check, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG searches, all within 60 days of start; education verification; state license and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
• Health: Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually; N95 fit testing with an approved mask within 1 year of start; Tdap; TB QuantiFERON (QGold) within 1 year of start; measles, mumps, and rubella immunity (titer or proof of 2 vaccines); hepatitis B; varicella; 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start; COVID vaccine or declination
• Flu: Seasonal flu vaccine required between 10/01 and 03/31 (documentation due 11/01); candidates may be pulled from the floor if the deadline is missed; declination accepted
• References and History: 2 references at supervisor level or above (one within the past year); employment application covering the last 7 years; work history verification covering the last 5 years, with explanations for gaps of 30 days or more
• Training: Facility modules on C-ICARE, code of conduct, radiation hazard awareness, age-specific training, safe patient handling, HIPAA, annual education, and the We Listen We Care module (with proof of completion)
• Documents: Harassment prevention certificate (California mandated); confidentiality agreement; child, elder, and domestic abuse reporting forms; RN competency checklist (completed post-start by the facility)
