Unit Details

• NICU, Level III
• 20-bed unit
• Ratios: 1:1, 1:2
• No floating
• 12-hour shifts: 0645-1915 and 1845-0715
• Every other weekend
• Holidays are worked into the permanent staff rotation
• 3 shifts of orientation

Required Qualifications

• 2 full years of experience
• Level III or above NICU experience
• Active BLS
• NRP
• NIH
• CA License
• Must be able to read and interpret strips
• Must be able to titrate drips

Clinical Support / Environment

• Charge nurse available and does not typically take patients
• No nurse aides
• Tele/Monitor tech support
• Vents are managed by RT
• Neonatologist in house 24/7
• RT 24/7 on unit
• Pharmacy 24/7
• Common patient types include congenital abnormalities, feeders/growers, and vents
• No ECMO patients
