Med Surg RN

Overview

Travel assignment in Frankfort, Kentucky
Unit: 611 – 4th Floor Med/Surg
46-bed unit
Patient ratio: 6:1
Schedule: every other weekend, three 12-hour shifts per week
May float to 3 South (post-surgical med/surg) or to PCU (to staff tele overflow)
Contract length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Kentucky
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience)
Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
BLS
NIHSS
Experience with CPAP
Port access
EKG interpretation
Post-Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) experience

Preferred Qualifications

ACLS
Experience with chest tubes, NG tubes, wound vac, drains, post-dialysis assessment skills, central lines, and blood transfusions

Unit Details

General med/surg skills
EKG interpretation
CPap management
Port access
Equipment includes GE Apex Pro Telemetry box, Hoyer lift, Sara Steady, Baxter IV pumps, iMobile, Alaris PCA IV pump, Welch Allen Vitals machine, and glucometer
Procedures performed on the unit include telemetry monitoring and paracentesis

Additional Notes

Uses Meditech Expanse for documentation
Navy blue or gray scrubs required
The unit has several travelers who have extended contracts
Supported by a director, manager, and clinical educator
