Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract): Clinical Observation Unit (Stepdown)

Location: Cookeville, Tennessee Employment Type: Travel/Contract Start Date: ASAP Contract Length: 13 weeks Unit: Clinical Observation Unit (Stepdown)

Schedule

• Day shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 to 19:00)
• 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend (EOW)
• Not on-call
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4

Candidate Eligibility

• Requires 1 year of experience
• Does not accept first-time travelers
• Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Tennessee
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of stepdown experience, completed within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Preferred

• ACLS from AHA (non-AHA certifications must be sent to the facility for approval)

Health and Documentation

• Initial physical exam, updated annually
• Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year of start, or a clear chest X-ray if past positive, plus annual TB questionnaire
• Measles (rubeola), mumps, and rubella: titer or 2 vaccines (booster if low titer)
• Hepatitis B: titer, vaccine series, or declination
• Varicella: titer or 2 vaccines
• 9-panel drug screen within the last 12 months (not required annually)
• Flu vaccine required October 31 to March 31; if declined, a facility declination form is required and a mask must be worn
• COVID vaccine or facility declination form

Background Checks

• 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, covering all locations lived or worked in the past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated at each renewal or extension

Onboarding Tasks

• Review the facility's nursing orientation PowerPoint for travel nurses and sign the orientation acknowledgment
• Review the nurse resource guide and restraint/seclusion policy before start
• Review the medication test and rhythm study guides before testing
• Complete required orientation safety manual acknowledgment and pass/fail testing acknowledgment
