Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin Employment Type: Travel Contract Length: 13 weeks Start Date: 12/14/26

Schedule and Hours

• Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• 12-hour variable day shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Guaranteed set hours each week, except during holidays when the unit is closed
• GSA hours are not guaranteed the week of orientation
• Every other weekend and every other holiday
• Up to 36 hours of low census time, applied in hour increments. The unit typically low censuses in 4-hour increments and may ask for a traveler to work only 4 or 8 hours of a shift. Low census is not considered on call.

Assignment and Unit

• Primary location: Facility Medical and Pediatrics unit
• Float scope: Floats to all inpatient units as needed
• Patient ratios: 1:4-5 on days, 1:6-7 on nights
• Exclusion: Travelers do not take pediatric patients
• Common diagnoses: Respiratory illnesses, stroke, other neurological conditions (such as seizure disorders, multiple sclerosis, and chronic back pain), gastrointestinal illness, diabetic management, renal failure, urinary tract disorders, sepsis, wound care, clotting disorders, other infectious disease processes, and acute alcohol withdrawal

Requirements

• Valid Wisconsin RN license
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg experience
• Med Surg experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Experience with Epic
