RN Cardiac Stepdown

Schedule and Assignment

• Shift: Day, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 to 19:30), 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
• Guaranteed hours: Yes
• Ratios: Average 1:4 on days and 1:4 on nights
• Weekends: Every other weekend
• On-call: Not required
• Block schedule: Not accommodated
• Float: May float within scope to meet facility needs
• Return to work: RTO greater than 7 days requires approval

Unit and Patient Population

• Medical/surgical cardiac patients at both floor and stepdown levels of care, including cardiology, cardiothoracic, and vascular patients
• Must be competent caring for pre- and post-cardiac procedures and cardiac surgery, including chest tubes and pacer wires
• Telemetry trained

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Connecticut
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Cardiac Stepdown experience (2 years required)
• Cardiac Stepdown experience within the last year
• Experience working with cardiothoracic patients
• Experience working with vascular patients
• Experience working with cardiac surgery patients
• Competent to care for pre- and post-cardiac procedures and cardiac surgery
• Experience with chest tubes
• Experience with pacer wires
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIHSS

Preferred

• Tdap vaccination within 10 years of start (a declination is acceptable)
• Initial COVID vaccine series, if previously received
