Overview

Travel/Contract assignment in Lexington, Kentucky
14-week contract
Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00–7:30
36 hours per week
23-bed medical surgical unit
Unit cares for orthopedic, spine, general surgery, and bariatric patients
Unit has cardiac and O2 monitoring capability
Float to other units in skillset
Local travelers within 100 miles are not accepted
Expected to work 3 of 5 Winter holidays

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Kentucky
Telemetry experience within the last year
2 years of telemetry experience
BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Experience caring for post-op surgical patients, especially Orthopedics and Gastrointestinal surgeries
EKG exam required during onboarding
Must have both medical and surgical skillset
Two supervisor references
Employment application must explain any gaps longer than 30 days
Work history verification for 7 years of employment
Physical exam within 1 year of start and updated annually
Fit mask within 1 year and updated annually
Tdap within 10 years of start date
Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year and renewed annually
COVID vaccination series or medical/religious exemption
Flu vaccination/documentation required year-round
Drug test within 1 year of start and updated annually
State license verification within 30 days of start
NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
Background check required within 1 year of start and updated annually
Education verification required
EKG pass/fail testing required
Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required within 1 year of start
Color blind testing required within 1 year of start
Unit-specific competency exam required within 1 year of start and renewed annually
Core Part I, Core Part II, and Core Part III required within 1 year of start and updated annually
RN math ability competency exam required annually
Skills checklist required
Two supervisor references verified within 6 months of start

Preferred

First-time travelers may be considered only if they have several years of experience caring for post-op surgical patients, especially Orthopedics and Gastrointestinal surgeries
ACLS not required
COVID-19 vaccine booster preferred
Manager or supervisor references preferred
ENPC may be accepted in lieu of PALS

Additional Notes

Overflow from medicine areas may occur if a bed is available
Unit is busy and fast paced, usually receiving 10–20 post-ops per day
