CVOR Tech

Location: Columbia, South Carolina Employment Type: Travel/Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Day, 4 x 10-hour shifts (6:45 to 17:15), 40 hours per week

Role Details

• Strong with vascular experience ideally. Vascular experience is preferred, not required.
• Call requirements will be discussed during the interview.
• Hours may be guaranteed, but the facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks.
• Restrictions on requested time off (RTO): all RTO must be included at time of submission, and approval is based on facility needs.

On-Call Schedule

• Vascular: 7 to 10 days on call when fully staffed. Weekend call (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) is included in that number.
• Hearts: 10 to 15 days on call, including 2 weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).
• The more staff there are, the less call there is. With less staff, there is more call.

Required Qualifications

• CVOR Technologist with a minimum of 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
• BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross; RQI is acceptable
• NBSTSA
• Experience with Epic

Eligibility

• Locals are accepted if they live more than 50 miles from the facility.
• First-time travelers are accepted.

Onboarding Requirements

Background and identity

• Driver's license or state ID, required ASAP to set up computer access. Candidate must carry ID while on duty.
• E-Verify or attestation
• 7-year background check completed within 12 months of start. Misdemeanors and above require approval.
• OFAC, HHS/OIG, and EPLS/SAM searches, completed within 30 days of start and repeated every 30 days
• Highest level of education verification

Health

• Physician's physical exam statement within 1 year of start
• Negative TB test (QuantiFERON Gold, T-SPOT, or 2-step PPD) within 90 days of start, or a chest X-ray if positive
• TB questionnaire, annually
• Rubeola, mumps, rubella, and varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines
• Hepatitis B: vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination (updated annually)
• Drug screen within 1 year of start, updated annually: 5-panel minimum. A positive marijuana result is an automatic cancel. One retest is allowed for a dilute result.
• Flu vaccine or approved exemption on file by the pre-start deadline of 10/5 (working candidates by 11/6)

Certifications

• National tech certification verification, run within 30 days of start and not expiring within 30 days of start. Proof of completion is not accepted as a placeholder.
• National tech certification card: strongly preferred, upload if held
• Other certifications, listed in the source as required only if the unit requires them: ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC, EFM, STABLE, NIH Stroke, MAB or CPI (both not needed), with AHA or ARC acceptance noted where applicable
• Orientation safety manual (HIPAA) acknowledgement, required for all candidates, valid for 90 days from start and renewed annually

Competencies and training

• Core Parts I, II, and III: required, updated annually, passed with at least 80%
• Online orientation modules and pre-assignment testing: must be completed within 72 hours of receiving the email. Candidates have 2 attempts to pass.

Forms and policies

• Floating policy, signed by all clinical candidates (renewed annually)
• Contractor acknowledgment, signed within 24 hours of signing the contract (renewed annually)
• Badge photo, sent the Tuesday before start (passport-style, white, cream, or light gray background)
• Respirator fit test, completed onsite during orientation
