Overview

• Shift: Day, 4x12-hour shifts, 7:00 to 19:30 (12 hours per day, 48 hours per week)

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Oregon
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Med Surg experience (2 years)
• Med Surg experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or RQI
• Oncology experience
• Trauma experience
• Bariatric experience
• Colo-Rectal Surgery experience

Schedule and Assignment Details

• On-call: Not required. There are no scheduled on-call shifts, but the nurse may be placed on standby.
• Pending license: Accepted. The license is quick to obtain.
• RTO restrictions: 7 days

Float Scope

• Any med-surg unit in the system, and any unit as a 1:1 observer
• Float area covers all four campus locations:

  • 218-bed level 2 trauma center
  • 15-bed critical access hospital
  • 12-bed critical access hospital
  • 36-bed level 4 trauma center
• May be assigned as primary RN in any med-surg department, or as a 1:1 observer in any clinical department
• May be assigned to the ED to care for boarding med-surg patients

Competencies

• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam, as applicable by profession
• Competency exam, as applicable by profession and specialty
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam. A candidate with an EKG certification may submit it for facility approval in place of testing.
• Skills checklist, completed annually

Facility Documents (Time Sensitive)

• Badge photo: clear, passport-style, with a solid background
• Acceptable use and confidentiality agreement
• Contractual and third-party access agreement
• Compliance and privacy program attestation
• Emergency contact form

These must be on file within 48 hours of signing and no later than 2 Wednesdays before start.

Health Requirements

• Physical exam: Within 1 year of start. Not required annually.
• Tdap: Within 10 years of start, given after age 19. Declination accepted.
• TB:

  • Negative QGold within 1 year of start. Not required annually.
  • Positive responders need a negative chest X-ray within 5 years of start and an annual TB questionnaire.
  • TSpot and PPD are no longer accepted as of 4/2026.
  • TB questionnaire required for all candidates and updated annually.
• Measles, mumps, rubella, varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines. For low or equivocal titers, 1 booster or declination is accepted.
• Hepatitis B: Positive titer required. Vaccine series alone is not acceptable. For low or equivocal titers, 1 booster or declination is accepted.
• Drug screen: Negative 12-panel drug screen within 90 days of start. Not required annually. Panel includes amphetamines, barbiturates, cocaine, methaqualone, MDMA, methadone, opiates, oxycodone/oxymorphone, phencyclidine, propoxyphene, and 6-acetyl morphine.
• Influenza (2026-27): Vaccine or declination/exemption required during flu season (10/1 to 3/31). Vaccine preferred. Masking required regardless of vaccine status during high transmission. Deadline: 12/01.
• COVID: Vaccines preferred, not required. A declination or exemption is required if the candidate has never been vaccinated. Vaccine records are requested if previously vaccinated.
• RespSafety clearance: Within 1 year of start, and annually.
