Schedule and Expectations

• Call required, twice a week, 5 p.m.-7 p.m. or 7 p.m.-11 p.m.
• Weekends and floating required if needed for the department.

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with a minimum of 5 years of experience
• CST experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Onboarding and Compliance Requirements

• Background checks: 7-year criminal background check within 12 months of start, updated annually; sex offender, federal, and DMV searches; education verification of highest level of education; EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Foreign-educated candidates: Foreign equivalency report and diploma required
• Identification: Photo ID matching legal name on first day
• Licensure: Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start (not applicable to MRI techs); must hold the required Connecticut or compact license, or apply for a Connecticut license within 72 hours and provide proof
• Work history: Employment application with 7-year work history and no gaps greater than 90 days; verification of last 7 years of employment
• References: 2 professional references within 3 years of start
• Skills checklist: Within 12 months of start
• Competency: Color blind test scoring 80% or higher, dated on or after the signed contract
• Radiation exposure: Attestation of prior radiation exposure required, updated if there is a 30-day gap in an assignment
• Physical exam: Within 12 months of start
• Drug screen: 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start, with all 10 panels listed
• TB: Negative T-Spot or QGold within 6 months of start, or 2 negative PPDs at least 1 week apart within 12 months of start; TB questionnaire updated annually
• Immunity: Positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines for measles, mumps, and rubella; positive titer, proof of Hepatitis B series or declination within 1 year of start; positive titer, 2 varicella vaccines, or physician-documented history for varicella
• Flu vaccine: Required during flu season (09/01-03/31) or an approved medical or religious exemption; declinations not allowed; deadline 12/01
• Fit test: Within 12 months of start, updated annually; must be clean shaven for testing
• Training attestations (allied staff): Chaperone policy training, fire safety module, and suicide risk and environmental assessment training
