Telemetry RN - Days

Location: Charlevoix, Michigan Employment Type: Long-term assignment (LTA) Contract Length: 13 weeks Unit: 12-bed MedSx unit at a critical access hospital

Role Overview

Competent, experienced Telemetry RN who will work with a team of CNAs, RNs, and a critical care-trained house supervisor.
May be expected to care for high-acuity patients or float to high-acuity units.
Average assignment is 4-5 patients, with a maximum of 6.
Must be able to quickly stabilize acutely sick patients according to ACLS guidelines, working with the interdisciplinary team (MD, RN, supervisor, and respiratory therapy), and prepare patients for transfer to a higher level of care.

Required Qualifications

Valid Michigan RN license
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN)
At least 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, with experience within the last year
Experience working with cardiac patients
Experience working with general surgery patients, including post-op general surgery care
Experience working with orthopedics patients
Urology experience
Experience with cardiac or critical care drips and titratable or cardiac IV medications
Experience with respiratory support
Active BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Active ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Valid driver's license

Schedule

Shift: Nights, variable nights, 1900-0730, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours/week. The job title and shift field list days, 07:00-19:30.
Weekends: 2 weekend shifts every 2-week period.
Holidays: Not required.
On-call: Yes. Low census on-call is used when census dips. No guaranteed hours.

Dress Code

Scrubs, no specific color.

Onboarding Requirements

Badge photo (shoulder/head, plain background).

Health statement (fit for duty), completed within 1 year of start; restrictions will be reviewed.
Immunizations and testing:
- MMR: proof of vaccination or positive titer.
- Varicella: proof of vaccination or positive titer; proof of history is not accepted.
- Influenza vaccine: required from 11/01 through 04/30. No declinations accepted. Medical or religious exemptions are allowed if approved and provided by the agency on agency letterhead.
- TB test: negative T-spot or QuantiFERON within the last 6 months, or 2 negative skin tests within the last 6 months (2-step tests must be at least 7 days apart and no more than 28 days between reads). Positive or abnormal results require a 2-view chest X-ray, a TB screening questionnaire, and documentation of medical evaluation and any latent TB treatment.
- Drug screen: results within 90 days prior to start.
- Ishihara-compliant color vision exam.

- Core competency exam (must be completed at hire; does not need to be redone unless there is a break between contracts).
- Skill-specific competencies.
- Self-assessment skills checklist.
- Emergency contact form, uploaded from the document library.
- Healthcare system agreement, signed and uploaded within 24 hours of accepting the offer.
Background and verification (attestations are not acceptable):
- Social Security verification: an actual verification is required. Trace and death master file results are not accepted.
- Criminal background check, within 90 days of start: 7-year national criminal search including all aliases, criminal history search, national sex offender database search, and FACIS Level 3.
- Education verification: third-party verification or diploma.
- Employment verification: third-party verification or a list of previous positions verified by the agency. At least 2 employers spanning at least 2 years, matching the resume.
- OIG search, OFAC search, and national sex offender search, each within 90 days of start, including all aliases.
