Location

• Bloomington, Illinois

Setting

• Inpatient acute floor

Unit Details

• 32 beds, all private rooms
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 3-4 patients per nurse

Schedule

• 3 12-hour shifts
• Rotating nights, weekends, and holidays
• Holiday and weekend rotation

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Stepdown (2 years of experience)
• Stepdown experience within the last year
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Must be able to read telemetries
• Must be comfortable with chest tubes

Floating

• Travel RNs are first to float
• May float to ICU if they have extensive ICU experience; otherwise to Gen Med floors
• Assignment may include whatever level-of-care assignment is required

Clinical Scope

• Care for patients with a wide range of medical conditions, including COPD, CHF, diabetes, sepsis, renal conditions, DKA, alcohol withdrawal, overdoses, pneumonia, other respiratory conditions, neuro/surgical/cardiac patients, Bipap, Cpap, trachs, NG tubes, PICC lines, central lines, ablation/cath lab patients, and dialysis

• EPIC
• Pyxis medication dispensing

Orientation

• 1 day with the education team
• 1 day floor orientation
