Travel ER RN (Registered Nurse)

Overview

• Location: Dodge City, Kansas
• Specialty: ER
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights, 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
• Start: This position will not remain open long.

Required Qualifications

• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC
• Driver's license: Must be submitted
• Clinical skill: Must be able to read and interpret telemetry

Unit Details

• Unit: ER/ED (non-trauma; Accredited Chest Pain Center; Stroke facility)
• Patient volume: About 30 patients per day
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-5, based on acuity
• Common diagnoses: Abdominal pain, DM, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, HTN
• Medications: Standard ER medications
• Holding area: Mixed with the ER
• Psych/seclusion rooms: None
• Charge nurse: Takes an assignment
• Support staff: Techs support unit secretary work, assist nurses on the floor, and assist in triage
• Respiratory therapy: Available 24/7 for breathing treatments and ABGs
• Monitor techs: None; RNs read their own telemetry strips
• Lab work: RNs will be trained to perform point-of-care lab testing

Schedule

• Shift length: 12 hours
• Scheduling: Leadership creates the schedule based on needs
• Weekends: Every other weekend
• Holidays: Every other holiday
• Call/standby: None

Floating and Housing

• Floating zone: Travelers float throughout their assigned zone, which covers a 60-mile radius from the zone's city center.
• Floating schedule: Nights, with 6-9 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule.
• Extended float: Zone 4 may be covered in extreme need.
• Housing: Traveler is responsible for obtaining housing (at additional cost). The 60-mile floating requirement applies regardless of housing location.
• Orientation: Clinicians must be in state for the orientation week, even if first-day modules are remote.
