RN (Registered Nurse) - MedSurg/Tele

Location: Hettinger, North Dakota Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts Hours: 12 per day, 36 per week

Required Qualifications

• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• Similar facility size experience

Preferred Qualifications

• PALS certification

Unit and Staffing

• Department: Med Surg | Med-Tele Peds
• Beds: 17 beds, combining MS Tele and Peds on the unit
• Patient ratios: Tele 1:4, Peds 1:4, MS 1:4-5
• Nurse aides: Available at 1:8
• Tele/monitor techs: None. RNs read their own tele strips.
• Monitors: Mindray
• ER charge nurse: Does not take an assignment; responsible for all ER and MS patients
• Floating: Tasking in the ER for extra hands and IV starts

Clinical Details

• Common diagnoses: CHF, pneumonia, COPD, Afib, BBB, RSV, dehydration, and post-op surgical patients (peds and adult)
• Drip titration: RNs titrate drips per policy
• Common titratable medications: Cardizem, heparin, amiodarone
• RT equipment: CPAP, BiPAP, high flow

Schedule and Coverage

• Scheduling: Self-scheduling; manager balances the schedule; block scheduling considered case by case
• Weekends: Every other weekend, potentially every third weekend
• Holidays: Every other holiday
• On-call: May be placed on call for low census on additional shifts

Other Information

• Scrubs: Any color or pattern; closed-toe shoes required
• Orientation: 1 day shift and 1 night shift on the unit
