Location: Wausau, Wisconsin Employment type: Travel Specialty: Intermediate Care Start date: 12/14/26 Contract length: 13 weeks (contract ends on Sunday, not Saturday) Shift: 12-hour night shift, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM

Schedule and Hours

• Guaranteed 36 hours per week, except during holidays when the unit is closed
• Hours are not guaranteed the week of orientation
• Low census may occur in 4-hour increments, and you may be asked to work only 4 or 8 hours of a shift. This is not considered on call.
• Weekends: every other weekend
• Holidays: every other holiday

Unit and Assignment

• Unit: 36-bed Med Surg Intermediate Care unit with heavy telemetry
• Float scope: All inpatient units as needed, typically higher acuity units
• Patient ratio: 4:1 for primary patients and insulin drips
• Patient types: Stable and weaning ventilator/trach patients, sepsis, trauma, alcohol detox, GI bleed, colostomy/ileostomy, chest tubes, TBI, ortho trauma, spinal cord injury, and stroke
• Scrub colors: Any color

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Experience with mechanical ventilation
• Experience with tracheostomy care

Policies

• During flu season, travelers who decline flu and COVID vaccination must wear a mask at all times. This policy is mandatory with no exceptions, and failure to follow it may result in corrective action.
