I honestly don’t see any pros from this company.
Cons
Too many problems over the last few years. I have been traveling for 6 years and worked with many agencies. I understand things aren’t all pretty and smooth, so I have high tolerance to agencies’ lagging and lacking support because I’m pretty much self sufficient. The only thing agency needs to do for me is getting the contract and onboarding me and check for extensions. I hardly wrote reviews on agencies until Amergis. Amergis, formerly known Maxim, is still part of Maxim because my paycheck is still headlined as Maxim. What triggered me to write this review is because 2 years in a row I did not receive my W2. When I didn’t receive my W2 in 2024, I reached out to my recruiter. Of course I was told to access ADP online W2, which I thought wasn’t a big deal and I did print out the online W2 to file tax. Again this year when I file tax for 2025, I did not receive my W2. I reached out to my recruiter and was told this was sent out between 1/20-1/29. But I didn’t receive it. I worked with 4 agencies during 2025 and all of them but Amergis failed to deliver my W2. Two years in a row missing W2 is not a coincidence. I contacted their payroll, they have all these excuses but refused to send another copy. So if you work with Amergis, very likely you won’t get your W2. I suspect agency doesn’t send out all W2 to save money for postage. Surely, this isn’t the only thing that triggered thus review. There is an error on my W2. Amergis payroll only sent me an email and saying the correct amount in box 14 should be this amount instead of that… I asked them to correct the W2, and they refused. In October 2022, 6 weeks after I ended contract with them, I got a paycheck about $8800 after tax. Apparently, payroll had a hiccup and randomly paid me. I told my recruiter I will return the money but the agency needed to write a statement about this paycheck in error. Payroll refused to do it. Last July, I received a mail from Amergis telling me my personal data in their system was breached in Feb 2024. This agency basically does nothing but the onboarding part for your contract. There is no room to negotiate the pay or any other benefits but their pay usually is lower than same level of agencies. The reason I stayed with them in and off is because I did not want to start a whole new profile with too many agency. But even this advantage has changed. Last year when I signed contract with them, I was 2 months pass the one year mark, they made me to fill out the whole profile as a new, check my I-9 employment verification even if my passport has not expired. The least support you could get as an employee. If the problem is critical, like there is an error on W2, they told you to contact ADP on your own because they outsourced their payroll to ADP. Many agencies I’ve worked with use ADP for payroll. Only Amergis did nothing to support. They don’t even take their due responsibility. So if you want to work with an agency risking missing W2, erroneous W2 , data breach, and bare minimum support, monsoon for pay negotiations , choose Amergis!
