<p>We are seeking an experienced Cath Lab / IR Technologist for this opportunity in Rockford, IL. The ideal candidate will have experience working at a Level 1 Trauma Center. This position is for Day Shift with an On-Call Rotation (Weeknights, Weekends, and Holidays). Cardiovascular Intervention includes the specialties of Interventional Cardiology, Interventional Neurology, Interventional Radiology, and Electrophysiology. The candidate for this position will be trained in all of these specialties.</p>
<p><strong>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</strong></p>
<ul>
 <li>Verify patient identification and presence of appropriate signed informed procedural consent. Identify allergies and history of contrast reaction prior to any procedure, using patient records and by questioning the patient.
 </li><li>Verify package integrity and expiration date of sterile supplies. Verify the type, concentration, amount, and expiration date of medications. Prepare equipment for sterilization.
 </li><li>Monitor and record vital signs, assess distal pulses pre and post procedure. Participate in the pre-procedural time-out activity.
 </li><li>Prepare the access site(s) to include the required sterile drapes and covers, provide for patient comfort and cooperation by familiarizing the patient with the equipment and the examination. Prepare the patient for the examination to include physiological monitoring equipment.
 </li><li>In conjunction with the physician, select the appropriate contrast agent. Set up and operate the automatic contrast injector, and ensure its proper function and cleanliness.
 </li><li>Prepare or assist in administering injectable medications according to physician's orders, to include analgesics, anticoagulants, thrombolytics, vasoactives, and emergency medications.
 </li><li>Recognize and respond to patient emergencies. Monitor and maintain medical equipment during the procedure. Adjust and calibrate pressure transducers.
 </li><li>Scrub with the physician. Use sterile and aseptic technique as required to help prevent infection. Handle blood and body fluids in a manner appropriate to biohazardous materials.
 </li><li>Advocate for radiation safety and protection. Wear a personnel radiation dosimeter. Take appropriate precautions to minimize patient and occupational radiation exposure. Document fluoroscopy time and radiation dose. Evaluate dose reports to determine if values are within established limits.
 </li><li>Position the patient and/or imaging equipment to achieve desired projections. Select appropriate imaging protocols (e.g., frame rates, high/low level fluoro) to optimize image quality while minimizing dose. Employ image enhancement techniques during the procedure to improve image quality.
 </li><li>Acquire and process digital images (e.g., road mapping, subtraction, annotation, magnification) and perform 3D image reconstructions.
 </li><li>Assist with ultrasound guidance for vascular access or organ access/biopsy.
 </li><li>Monitor and record all procedural data (e.g., injection data, physiologic data, administered medications, complications).
 </li><li>Assist with procedures to include vascular access, and all assigned diagnostic and interventional procedures.
 </li><li>Provide patient post-procedural care. Apply pressure to arterial or venous puncture site. Apply dressing to puncture. Place vascular closure devices. Provide practical instruction for students and partners.

Nurses can expect to be assigned to a different area at minimum daily and may be rotated during their shift, depending on patient volume and the needs of the unit. <p><strong>Shifts:</strong> The primary shift is Day Shift (7a-7p) with a maximum of one (1) week of requested time off (RTO), if needed. Shifts may change during the contract, and nurses may need to cover day shifts or mid shifts as the facility relies heavily on contractors. The schedule is typically 7 on, 7 off, with 36 hours one week and 48 hours the next. Travelers are occasionally expected to float to other departments in which they are qualified to work. This could include taking a patient load if experienced and competent in that setting or could be task-oriented, such as answering call lights, phones, etc.</p>

<p>Join a leading acute-care hospital as an Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse in Portland, OR. This contract position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a multidisciplinary team dedicated to patient care in the Interventional Radiology department.</p>

<p><strong>Shift Details:</strong> This role requires a Day 4x10-Hour shift from 07:00 to 17:30, with call required. The department is open Monday through Friday for routine and emergent cases, and an on-call team is available 7 days a week for all cases after routine hours of operation.</p>

<p><strong>Required Qualifications:</strong></p>
<ul>
 <li>IR/Cath/GI Procedural Experience, preferably including body and neuro procedures
 </li><li>BLS and ACLS certification required
 </li><li>Oregon RN License required
 </li><li>Minimum 2 years of Critical Care, PACU, ED, or Procedural experience
 </li><li>Confidence to work alongside and communicate directly with physicians
 </li><li>Excellent communication skills and active listening abilities
 </li><li>Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
 </li><li>Efficient time management skills
</li></ul>

<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p>
<ul>
 <li>Experience with caring for patients undergoing procedures and managing associated complications
 </li><li>Knowledge of radiation safety and fluoroscopy
 </li><li>Experience as a Charge RN in a related setting (ICU, PACU, ED)
 </li><li>Ability to assess patient conditions quickly and accurately
 </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills
 </li><li>High emotional intelligence and ability to manage competing demands
</li></ul>

<p><strong>Department Summary:</strong> The Interventional Radiology department is staffed by a multidisciplinary team including Registered Nurses, Interventional Radiology Technologists, and Interventionalists. The role requires the ability to ride the Arial tram throughout the day and the flexibility to adapt to changing assignments. Weekend and after-hours call is required, with the ability to report to work within 30 minutes of being called.</p>
