About
Our story starts with a 21-year-old CNA named Pete Hietpas. Pete was diligently working in eastern Wisconsin with a variety of staffing agencies, but something was missing. He loved caring for his patients, but felt that staffing agencies were exchanging compassion for competitiveness. He was determined to change that. As a result, he started Nurses PRN in 1995 to become a model for the healthcare staffing industry – being competitive in the marketplace, yet still maintaining a compassionate heart.
Over the years Nurses PRN grew and evolved as a nationwide healthcare staffing company, and therefore wanted to be more inclusive to all valued healthcare professionals: nurses, allied health, locum tenens, CNAs, and more. This lead to the introduction of PRN Healthcare, which is inclusive of Nurses PRN and all of our other healthcare divisions.
Our mission to create authentic, meaningful relationships with our healthcare professionals helps us set them up for success in their dream assignment, whether that be a travel contract, local contract, or per diem shift. This is all driven by the simple idea that better care for our healthcare workers, leads to better patient care – and this is all supported by a dedicated internal staff.
Our company culture is strongly backed by faith-based values and activities, to remind us that our success provides us the opportunity to serve and give back to our communities. This is the spirit of caregiving. This is PRN Healthcare.

Pros
Amy Berg has been my recruiter on and off since 2020. In the now 4 years time, Amy has been the most responsive recruiter out of any travel agency I’ve ever been employed with. I’ve been blessed to be employed with a lot of different agencies and I’ve gotten the privilege to travel to many places as a nurse. So to me, this definitely says a lot and deserves to be recognized. Amy is responsive to my concerns and questions, even being reachable on off time and days, even if just to communicate that she can’t get right back to me or that she’s not sure of the answer I am seeking and needs to either find the answer or at the very least, she always seems to find the right person that seems to know the answer. For me, a recruiter that is attentive, cares, and is dependable is one I will always return back to.

Used to be better
I signed on during COVID. Had a GREAT recruiter and team. Recruiter retired and I have been assigned several in a year. I don't know who I'm talking to half the time. This latest contract was an extension and there was a discrepancy between the contract I had and the contract the hospital had. The vendor was playing both sides. This is sketchy to me, and add in the fact that their hourly pay including the stipend is capped at $53/hr, I'm looking elsewhere.

Reposting since Vivian deleted my original and a bunch of other people's reviews since they're now a 'preferred " agency!!! I had an extremely frustrating and unprofessional experience with PRN Healthcare, and I would never recommend them to any travel professional looking for reliability, organization, or professionalism. 🚩 High-Pressure Tactics & Lack of Transparency From the start, they aggressively pressured me into signing a contract before I could properly review it or weigh my options. I had another opportunity but was pushed into committing before I was even able to compare my choices. On top of that, I was randomly switched to a new recruiter without notice, adding even more unnecessary confusion to the process. 🚩 Repeated Miscommunications & Lack of Preparedness I clearly stated upfront that I was missing my tetanus shot records and was assured it was already included in my physical paperwork. Later, I was told this was not the case, forcing me to go back to the clinic and scramble to get it done at the last minute. The recruiter explicitly told me my travel allowance would be provided upfront. Later, when it didn’t happen, I reminded him of what he originally said—and he tried to deny ever saying it. It wasn’t until I sent him a screenshot of his own text message confirming the allowance was upfront that he admitted, “Oh, that was a mistake.” This kind of dishonesty is unacceptable. 🚩 The Final Straw – They Left Me Unprepared & Without Essential First-Day Details I was already HALFWAY to my assignment location, having driven 14 hours because I was told everything was “set” and that I would receive my first-day instructions by the end of the business week (Friday). When Friday arrived, I still had: No official start time No information on who I was meeting No orientation details or instructions beyond the hospital’s name I reached out multiple times, explaining that I needed these details to ensure I could plan my arrival accordingly—whether that meant getting there early or making necessary adjustments. Instead of doing their job and contacting the facility to get me answers, they deflected responsibility, saying it was the unit manager’s issue, not theirs. I made it very clear that if I did not receive these details by the end of the business day Friday, I would need to turn around. My recruiter agreed to this. 🚩 Guilt-Tripping & Harassment Instead of Solutions When the deadline passed and I still had NO first-day instructions, I formally withdrew from the contract. Instead of handling this professionally, my recruiter: Began calling me back-to-back, trying to pressure me into staying instead of addressing the issue. Guilt-tripped me, saying “You really drove 14 hours just to turn around?” Refused to acknowledge that I was entering a completely new state, a new hospital, and needed basic details to proceed. I wasn’t asking for a full breakdown of my orientation process, but at the very least, I needed a time and a point of contact. Instead of ensuring I had those basics, he chose to gaslight, deflect, and harass me into staying. 🚨 Final Thoughts: I ultimately withdrew from the contract because I could not trust this agency to handle things professionally or provide me with what I needed to be successful in this assignment. Instead of respecting my concerns, the recruiter resorted to guilt-tripping, gaslighting, and unprofessional behavior. 🚫 If you’re a travel professional looking for reliability, communication, and professionalism—DO NOT work with this agency. They are disorganized, they shift blame, and they will leave you stranded without the information you need. Save yourself the stress and work with an agency that actually values transparency and preparedness.
