About

The Certified in Neonatal Pediatric Transport (C-NPT) is a specialized professional certification for healthcare professionals involved in the interfacility transport of neonatal and pediatric patients. This certification, administered by the Air & Surface Transport Nurses Association (ASTNA), is designed to validate the expertise of nurses, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals in the field of neonatal and pediatric transport. It recognizes their proficiency in critical care during transport, including patient assessment, stabilization, and management of complex medical conditions in neonatal and pediatric patients during air or ground transport.

Completion Time: 2 hours

Exam Format

Registration for the C-NPT exam involves an application process, meeting eligibility criteria (such as relevant clinical experience in neonatal and pediatric transport), and paying the examination fee.

The C-NPT exam consists of 125 multiple-choice questions (100 scored, 25 unscored) covering critical care concepts and transport-specific knowledge, including patient assessment, stabilization, pathophysiology, and management of neonatal and pediatric emergencies during transport.

Topics also include transport environment challenges, equipment use, and ethical and legal issues in transport care.

A passing score is achieved by reaching a percentage of correctly answered questions determined by the ASTNA.

In Person

The test can be taken at any of the 250 test centers nationwide at NCC's testing vendor AMP/PSI test sites.

Online

This certification can be obtained from any location through Live Remote Proctoring (LRP).
