About

The Certification for Magnetoencephalography (MEG) Technologist is a professional credential for technologists specializing in MEG, a non-invasive neuroimaging technique used to map brain activity. This certification acknowledges expertise in operating MEG equipment, conducting MEG studies, data analysis, and understanding the neurophysiological basis of the MEG signals.

Completion Time: The certification process includes 3 quizzes and a final exam. Exam length may vary by certifying organization.

Cost: Application fee: $700, Varies based on the certifying organization and examination fees.

Course Format

Exam Format

The exam typically covers areas such as MEG instrumentation, data acquisition protocols, basic principles of neurophysiology, and safety considerations.

The MEG certificate program includes 12 self-paced computer-based video modules, reading assignments, quizzes, and a proctored exam.

A passing score of 80% is required for certification. To access the final proctored exam, you must pass all quizzes. The quizzes are "open book" and look for precise answers. You have three attempts to complete each quiz, but the first attempt is the only chance to score 100%. If you need a second attempt to achieve a passing score of 80%, you will be penalized 1/3 of the points for the questions you got right on the second attempt. Similarly, if you require a third attempt, you will lose 2/3 of the points for the question that needs a third attempt to answer correctly. All quizzes must be passed with a minimum score of 80% before scheduling the final proctored exam.

The final exam will be proctored at a nearby university, college, or junior college.
